Who Gets the Credit for This Site

The acknowledgements that I’m familiar with thank one or more people for their assistance in the production of a literary work. They do not however, give the credit for the final product to those who helped. It is the author’s name that is on the spine of the book. This is an example of a very different acknowledgement.

A Metaphor to Bond With

Suppose you were in your favorite sports bar on August 8, 2007 when Barry Bond’s bat connected with the ball that would become his 756th career home run.  Just before you looked at the screen for the first time, the camera switched from Barry’s swing, to the flight of the ball.

The first image you saw was the ball heading toward the right-center field seats. You knew the significance of what you were watching because you heard the announcer but you did not see the person deserving the credit for the act.

The title of home run king became Barry’s as the ball settled into the stands and he alone deserves the credit for it.  No one would ever consider giving the bat he used the recognition that is rightfully his.

It Ain’t Easy Being a Bat

If you receive anything of value while visiting His grace creations, I want to be considered the bat and God the hitter.  That points the camera back in his direction for the recognition I think he deserves.

You may have heard the phrase, ‘Give God the glory.’ That’s what this acknowledgement is all about; that’s what I just did. It’s simply giving recognition to the correct person for something accomplished.

I’ll let you in on a little secret though.  Giving God all the credit is easier said, than done.  If bats thought about these things, you can bet Barry’s would want some press time; at least if it was at all like me.

Last Swing

We can’t see God and we couldn’t see Barry when the camera’s focus moved to the flight of the ball. But just as surely as everyone listening believed Barry was the cause of home run #756 and gave him the credit (the glory), I believe God is the cause of what’s happening here.
